Hi there,

I have inherited a collection of glass paper weights & I am having a very hard time identifying them. I'd love any insight you guys might have as to where they were made, the year, or even what they might be worth!

This one has a P1974 on one of the canes. Here is the link to a photo:

Thanks in advance!

Amy

Hi Amy,

it helps greatly if you include an image of the base and a side view, also state the size.

However, this is a Perthshire weight, design code most likely PP11 - in which case it should be about 3 inches in diameter.

As for the other weights: it becomes confusing if several weights are discussed in a single thread. Please, start new threads for each of the other weights.

Also another organisational note: it is preferred to upload images to this board, rather than having them somewhere else. Images somewhere else tend to disappear - which makes the entire thread more or less useless. If you upload your images here, this is prevented.

Hi Amy,
in your second flikr posting, paperweight 1-5 is a very nice Whitefriars P25. This is also known as a "weight within a weight" as each of the circular designs within the paperweight are the same as an old concentric paperweight.

Regards,

Tony

Correction: the side view shows the coloured base - making the weight imaged in the first contribution of this thread a PP12.
