Possibly Whitefriars Amber vase 9091. ID = Confirmed
« on: March 15, 2014, 12:36:16 PM »
Hi,
I recently bought this at an auction, it came along with the piece I really wanted ( a Monart that hadn't been spotted!!  ;). I think it is a Whitefriars and looks like pattern number 9091 in the 1938 Catalogue page 13. It is 11.5" high, 6 vertical ribs that can be felt on the outside, has a ground concave polished pontil and is heavy.
I know absolutely NOTHING about Whitefriars glass, have looked to find a picture to compare it with, have found similar but not identical.
So if there is a Whitefriars buff out there I'd love to know if it is and are they common or rare (ish)?

Pictures: hopefully they will appear

Many thanks,
Roberta

(I'm new to glass collecting and appear to have been infected with a virus)

Glass colllecting isn't a virus- it's an addiction, but welcome to a world full of this sort of addict! ;D
There is a dedicated Whitefriars forum, but some folk from there do come here and should be able to help, with a yes or no to whether is is wfs. I'm afraid I can't.
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Hi, pretty sure you have got it right :)

http://whitefriars.com/catalogues/contents.php?id=1086

I have posted it here just to be sure some Wuidart pieces from the Wealdstone range were similar.

Thanks to everyone who helped, had another positive ID as Whitefriars so I think we can put this one to bed now!
