« on: May 05, 2014, 10:58:52 AM »
Hi all, last one of the bank holiday weekend and curiosity getting the better of me i think,it has wear to the outside of the base and is 11" wide with a very long low tone ring,i should also mention it has a ground flat rim with enamelled blue swallows and stars, lastly it glows green with the uv torch,i'm guessing Bohemian, any thoughts many thanks.

The swallow and the stars are transfers. The same stars are found on Chance items, so I would say your date is about right. It's not Bohemian, as that only takes us to 1918.

This pale yellow uncased uranium is not that common. I have four identified US pressed pieces ( 2 x Heisey in Ivorina verde c 1900, a Jefferson piece c 1905 and a Fenton piece c 1975, Fenton used it a lot but mostly frosted) and some Leerdam

And then I have these two mould-blown pieces, which I reckon are contemporaneous with yours and possibly the same manufacturer but I have no idea who made then

Very interesting Christine, would the transfers have just been used in this country? When i picked it up i could see a faint hint of what i thought was a stamp, but on closer inspection when i got home it may just be just some foreign matter looking like tea dust faintly forming a triangle on the base.Lets hope a labelled example turns up soon.

There weren't that many transfer makers, so they could have been used anywhere

No, most unusually it's Bakelite. I'll edit the caption to say so.

I thought it might be,these pieces are very much of there time aren't they,i wonder if mine had a lid of some sort,i think it would balance the proportions up a bit.

I agree - as soon as I saw it I thought it was missing it's lid.
No idea whether the lid would have been glass or metal though.

No, it's too big to be lidded. It's fruit bowl size
