White crazed studio glass vase help please.
« on: July 11, 2014, 07:08:19 PM »
I have tried for a while to identify this, it looks similar to a few bits of Art Nouveau glass i have  in the way it's made, (which i have no idea about so perhaps someone could explain this), i'm not sure how old it is, i'm thinking 70's maybe, it has wear to the base and appears well made.

It's measures 20 cm in height 8 cm across the rim and base.

 ???
If it were iridescent, I would suggest Royal Brierley "Studio", but it's not, is it?
It does look moulded, though which would rule out "Studio" proper.

I know what you mean, i have a few Royal Brierley studio bit's somewhere, there normally pretty small and iridescent, or at least the ones i have seen, my friend has loads of them, she loves them, seen one seen them all for me. Although my wife recons they did not make many of them compared to the volume of cut glass and more towards the end of the factory's life.

I have seen large bits of RB, the biggest being a lamp base, but it was in an earlier than the Studio style range.
It was yellow and speckled with white, with a crazed sort of texture through it.

For what it's worth, your piece does not really resemble my Loetz Shaumglas vase, which is sort of similar, so I would (tentatively) rule out Loetz.

Picture two does look a little like RB'y Studio but the 'veining' seems a bit too deep for them, I've over 40 pieces now but keep finding different forms so I'm not going to commit either way, although I'd say no at this time  ::) ;D ;D

I don't have the lamp base any more, and no pic of it.
The Loetz Shaumglas is cased, with a smooth(ish) surface, the crizzling is quite different

I have no idea, but I do think post WWII (and probably quite some time after).

>> Here is another one, no conclusion reached either...

I keep seeing pieces with this uncased crackle surface, sometimes coloured, sometimes white, simple shapes like ball vases with cut rims. (But they don't necessariliy have to be all by the same maker)
