Topic: Another Monart - bowl JD - rare shape?

Hi,

Last one for this weekend I promise 

I think this is a hard to find shape JD bowl, size VII - 6 ½ “diameter across the top, 4 ¼” high.
 Colour 234  - yellow with multi coloured swirls.
Applied foot with surface colouring, ground outer edge and ground out pontil scar.

I've trawled through everything I can find and haven't come across another picture of this shape - anyone?

Sorry, I can't comment on the shape, it's not one that I would pay too much attention to. (plant pot)

Hi,
Can anyone confirm this is colour 234?
There is also colour 390(1) which is yellow white swirls, mixed colours at top -  which also seems to fit.

I believe it is 390 rather than 234. Colour code 390 has yellow and white as the main colours where as 234 has only yellow as the main colour.
It is not a common shape, there is one in the ex I Turner collection (lot 101) though it is catalogued as shape BI.

I did see that one (ex I Turner) and it didn't look like BI, but I thought it was a WC variant as it has a foot more like that (more "shaped" and a bit stepped) whereas the JD just has a flat disc shaped foot, but it could be! . the size fits either one.
The variants on Ysart glass - are they all catalogued from labelled pieces do we know?

Below is an image of a post war variant of the shape WC 4.5 inches high and 10 inches wide. I have on my data base images a post war labeled piece the exact same as the one shown and in the same colourway.
The one from I Turner in my opinion is not a variant of WC.
Frank is the person who will know that answer re variants and labels.

Comparing the picture you posted of the WC and the I Turner one, the WC shape is shallower in the bowl whereas the I. Turner one is definitely deeper - more like the JD proportions, so I think you are most probably correct (yet again  ).
And we know Monart applied feet can vary quite a bit over time.
