'Mottled' Glass Vase
« on: July 27, 2014, 06:37:25 PM »
Last one for now I promise ! This is a 'curious' piece for me. It has a mottled effect of green and purple and feels slightly textured on the outside and smooth inside. 9.5cm in height. No markings that I can find. Looks good in the sun though !
Pete. :-)

I'll probably get shot down for this but the shape and textured finish reminds me of this piece, which I think resembles a Caithness vase on page 361 of 20th Century B.Glass, so might yours also be...?  ::) ;D ;D

Concave, moulded with some wear, the label came with it but  I doubt they started out together ! difficult to photograph.

I would think that label belongs Keith, the pattern looks like RB, sure I have seen a few before.

The base on mine is concave. I checked Royal Brierley and Caithness with no luck yet. Will follow the leads further. Thanks All.
Pete. :-)

 ;)
I suspect Christine is supecting Sunderland, Keith.
I'm clueless about Pete's piece.
It is a fairly standard small bud vase shape, it's the decor that is really unusual. ???
I even pondered Strathearn, briefly, but dismissed it.

Better picture of the base,
John; don't suppose you remember seeing any with an etched mark ? the finish is not like any RB'y I've seen before and I've seen quite a few  :o ;D ;D

That bubbly finish is a little different, sorry Keith I have no record of it being RB just going on memory. The shape does match the vase in the photo on page 361 of Hajdamach II that you mention, however I still don't think it is Caithness and neither is the vase shown to the immediate right of it in that photo (that particular one is from Dartington Studio). The other four do appear to be from Caithness though!
