Unknown maker/age
« on: July 31, 2014, 11:10:35 AM »
I've had this one lurking around for a while, came as part of a mixed auction lot. I've no idea who made it or when, I have seen a few (on that font of all knowledge ebay) described as Victorian but i have not seen any in any of my reference books with an attribution. It's about 3 inches green (bottle type) glass with a recessed broken off pontil scar and the stylised flower is yellow and dark brown/black.

Any ideas?

Spot on Christine !

I believe St Helens Glassworks employed some glassmakers from "Bohemia" and their output seems to be these flower type shapes in single, double or triple format but they also made weights with names in. You could order any name but the design was usually the same as per this example

I have had / seen quite a few of these. Regarding date, I think they were made in the 1960s - 1970s.

I sold one this week on eBay for the amazing price of £1.90....so next time, charity shop!

They all came from within about 10/15 miles of the factory and the museum
