i wonder if anyone would be kind enough to hazard a guess at what the initials TCSC might stand for as engraved on the following glasses:
one of a pair of Williamite engraved glasses c1890 commemorating the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.
They have conical bowls with annulated knops above and below a central swelling knop stems. Conical folded feet with snapped pontils.
The bowls are engraved with ‘THE GLOREOUS MEMORY OF KING WILLIAM’ with the king sitting on his horse and NO SURRENDER and also “BOYNE 1st JULY 1690 T.C.S.C.”.
Lead glass, no chips cracks or restoration, they measure 6 ¼ inches tall with 2 5/8 inch bowls and 2 ¾ inch feet.
