Square bubble vase ID = Leerdam
« on: November 13, 2014, 01:53:11 PM »
This square vase is 18 cm/ 7" and has a very nice finished rim. It was pressed into a mould, but does not have the usual Sklo bird bath bottom. I also suspect it is crystal not glass - but pinging does not work on square vases....
I should recognise the beast - but in spite of several hours googling I cannot find it. Tried Walther, Jan Drost, Iittala - each and every German maker known to man - but alas.

Can anyone suggest which obvious maker is staring me in the face??

Not obvious to me Ivo...

Another possibility is Josef Schott and Smalandshyttan but did not find it with a brief google. Nice vase.

Very similar to an amber one I posted a few months ago - I'll get back later with the thread.

Ivo, you reckoned mine was possibly Fåglavik, but there were other theories like Riihimaki and Schott. I never got a conclusion on it, but like yours it's very well made with a nicely finished rim.

Any chance of a base shot, Ivo? I'd just like to compare with mine.

Thanks, it's similar with that slightly dished area. Looking at the Fåglavik site, it seems they did not case their glass so mine might not be theirs after all. But Schott doesn't look right to me either as these vases appear to be much thicker and with heavier relief. Yours, with a more abstract design, could be Schott?
