I purchased this but got the Id wrong
« on: November 15, 2014, 04:52:39 PM »
Hi Guys, I bought this thinking I had scored myself a Whitefriars Wuidart piece in Sanctuary Blue but its not. The colour isn't right and its got a clear foot, any ideas? Lead crystal with polished pontil, Cheers Wolfie

I've got something similar in a Golden Honey colour it's got a polished pontil and a lot of base wear looks a lot like yours. thought it was 30's in date.

6 1/2 inches in height.

Always thought we assumed the clear footed ones were Stevens & Williams Wolf ?

I've just acquired a S&W blue and green Rainbow.   Looks to me like the same optic mould and the same blue.   I should have it with me on Sunday if you want to compare them.

I would say the Gold and Green ones above are Whitefriars Wuidart pieces. P7 here http://www.whitefriarsorg.co.uk/wuidart.php
My blue one has an interesting feature, trapped between the foot and the base are 2 perfectly circular rings (bubbles). This maybe a tooling mark and could be present on other examples?

Does anybody else think this is S&W or someone else?

just a question - do any of those shown fit the height size given in the catalogue pages?

edited to add
and the Stevens and Williams 'rainbow' and one ribbed vase I've seen don't appear to be the same shape to me.  I've not found one with a foot and also they are more barrel shaped and have a smaller aperture on the rim it seems - but admittedly very difficult looking at photos that may not be from the same angle.
Perhaps they both supplied.  Perhaps some of those shown are Whitefriars and some are Stevens and Williams or a.n.other ?

It's not a shape I've seen by S&W's either, these are my optic ribbed S&W's....
