Hi catlady, welcome to the Board.

It seems that maybe your picture editing program is using your resizing details to perform a sort of "cropping" process.

If it is a problem with resizing, try this simple, free internet routine: http://www.picresize.com/ and just experiment with the dimensions (start with, say, 700 or 800 pixels for maximum width or height) until the result is below 125Kb.

This is a shot in the dark & I am only suggesting this because yours is slag, but just in case your slag swan looks somewhat like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vtg-1960s-Sooner-Glass-Swan-Bowl-Orange-White-Swirled-Handmade-Blown-FR-SHP-/111475702338?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19f4783a42&forcev4exp=true

Its Sooner Glass made in Oklahoma & they make these in large numbers sometimes in slag, but they often turn up as Murano.
