Hi there,

I purchased this vase revently and am looking for some help identifying the origin of the glass. The sterling rim is marked "Ryrie Bros. Sterling" which dates the piece to the early 20th century but there are no marks on the glass.

Any help with weho may have made the glass is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

hello strife

assume you are saying that the metalwork lacks hallmarks  -  the date letter of which would help with dating (at least for the silver).   Do you know the whereabouts of Ryrie Bros.?
My suggestion would be that if this collar lacks hallmarks, then probably it's origin is not the U.K.
Did you purchase this in Canada?

Combinations of silver and glass are often sourced separately, so not easy to be positive about origins.      Would be good if you are able to post another picture showing the underside  -  just possible it might provide some additional information.

Regret I can't help, but fingers crossed someone might have the  answer. :)

The silver is Canadian. Scroll down here for a summary of Ryrie Bros http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19623

Hi there folks.

Thanks for your input.

Yes the silver is Canadian and Ryrie Bros. were active in the late 19th, early 20th century before they were acquired by Birks.

The question I am looking to get answered is who made the glass portion of the vase. I apologize if I wasn't clear in my initial post. Ryrie Bros I'm pretty  familiar with in so far as who they were and when they operated but I have had no luck finding any info on who may have supplied glass for this piece.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my post all the same.

Any thoughts on who may have made the glass?

Thanks.
