Chinese Murano labels
« on: December 23, 2014, 11:08:30 PM »
Visited T.J. Maxx today ad saw glass sculptures with made in China label and an inch from that label another that said Murano Glass".  also saw glass that had a hang tag that stated how it was made in the style of Murano and went on to describe the history of glassmaking on Murano but never actually professed to it being made in  Murano, Italy. Pieces may have been made by Murano glassmakers working in China.
Trying to identify makers will continue to be a challenge.
In addition, I remember working with several Murano maestros in Mexico in the 70's and they were there for several years training the Mexicans andthe Mexicans learned very well. Most of their wares were for domestic Mexican market.
