Aquarium sculpture
« on: January 17, 2015, 01:05:10 PM »
Hi
This aquarium sculpture paperweight has no sticker or identifying marks. It is a happy fish with coral among the weeds. Has a nice greenish underwater feel. Massively heavy for size which is about 6 x 4 inches. Do you think it is Murano  possibly ?
Happy New Year all

I almost moved this to Glass as an unidentified ID request.

But the fish, the seaweed and the fact that is made from two fused pieces says Murano to me.
But which maker, I cannot say.

Thanks. Sorry pictures so small. Just wanted to clarify wasn't so much asking for an id on the piece, knew from research it should be Murano and a maker like Barbini posibly, but came upon it by chance and not familiar with aquariums ! and read that there a lot of copies and even downright fakes, so really was asking does it look authentic ? There are some excellent close up pictures on Great glass for instance. Bubble for bubble this one seems the same !
All best wishes
