Jack Allen Paperweight
« on: January 22, 2015, 07:40:26 PM »
I have a paperweight bought in a Glasgow Auction that I could not identify until the Perth Conference. I took it along and showed it to David Moir after his talk. He said that it was made by Jack Allen with him in the early days of Strathearn. I put it away and forgot about it until this week as I have decided to thin out my collection and paperweights are not my expertise. I have read the discussions on the message board and those of KevinH were very helpful. As David said the signature cane with the cog wheel was made from bits of old tile. I have decided to sell the paperweight, but have no idea of its value as have not seen anything like it sold, but there was a lot of interest in Perth. I thought that collectors might be interested in seeing what I think is quite a rare piece.
