Topic: Stourbridge Uranium Glass Basket

Picked this up in an antique shop on Saturday for the bargain price of £8. It's uranium glass, tested it in the shop with a friends UV jewellers loupe. Pretty sure it is from Stourbridge and late 19th century but is it possible to attribute it to a particular factory? Will add measurments later as I'm not posting this from home.

Does it have a polished pontil mark btw?  or is the base mold blown?

The base has a partially polished pontil, the pontil scar is quite deep as shown in the 3rd photo. It's not mould blown.

It was almost certainly hand-blown into a mould and then hot worked to turn the edge, crimp it and add the bits and pieces. These were production pieces and mould blowing is much faster and more consistent.

So I wouldn't necessarily expect to see mould lines from a mould blown piece then?

No, because they smooth them off. It's generally only machine blown pieces where you seen mould lines.
