Topic: Bright yellow, iridescent vase, Art Deco

Small moulded vase, height 12.5 cm. Polished and beveled rim.
Bright yellow cased in light pink, slightly matte surface with a soft iridescence.
Inside with quite pronounced ribs which can only be felt. In the base these ribs form a star shaped pattern which can be seen.

Both the colour of the casing and the iridescence on a single coloured piece seem quite unusual, and I wasn't able to find much in my searches.
My first thought was Jean Beck, who made similar shaped vases and combined "Tango"-colours with iridescent finish, but the surface is wrong, no mark anywhere, and no shape match...

So still probably 1920s German? Or Bohemian?

The perceived effect of this whole piece reminds me a lot of a pale green piece that Michelle?? put on here for id but no id.  I've seen the pale green around once more on ebay (not her piece I don't think) but sure same maker. They  appeared to have almost gold iridescence somehow. Looks very good quality.
The iridescence, but not the casing, on both the green and your yellow remind me of the iridescence used on the Welz multi coloured zig zag pieces (I have one) or like this - beautiful consistent iridescence,not hard at all:

I've added one which is pink with green aventurine spots and also had the lovely iridescence.  Hope the photo shows ok.

I have a uranium piece with a soft satinated finish and a light iridescence which has been identified as "Italian first quarter 20th century" .  I see similarities....

Great sleuthing m -- the one Michelle posted looks very similar to mine, especially the iridescence and the surface (slightly matte with ultra fine horizontal "lines"), and the base finish seems identical as well.

Looking at the base of my vase (with the angular yellow interior casing -- almost a perfect octagon) I wonder if probably a mould was used similar to some of the Welz "trophy" vases?

Ivo, yours looks quite similar as well; I am not sure if I see it properly in your pic -- does it have a coloured casing like mine?
Maybe it isn't Italian after all

Close inspection reveals that what looks like a casing is, in fact, the glass itself. What makes it look like a casing is the inside satination. The piece was satinated by immersion, so the inside, the outside, the flat bottom and the polished pontil are all satinated.

 @Ivo: so construction of your piece seems quite different. Very nice anyway...

@m: yes, though the ones you linked to are hexagonal, while the yellow layer in mine is octogonal (like some trophy vases).
The most unusual feature in mine still seems to be the pink casing

These Welz pieces on CW are quite similar regarding the iridescent finish: >> satin flashed and >> base (orange piece)

yes a better match if octagonal then.  And yes, the iridescent finish and outer cased layer is just so similar.  It's pretty easy to spot which is why yours reminded me of the Welz pieces.  It's a bit different to other iridescent finishes.
So hopefully at some point  there will be a shape match for your vase

Even a quite extensive searching didn't come up with a shape match so far.
Let's see...

I wonder if it was deliberate to have those almost unvisible ribbing from the original octogonal mould.

Michael the peachy pink casing reminds me of this pink used on Welz vases with applied frills and feet etc. (scroll down a couple of rows)
