Hi Chris
I think your weight is a Selkirk although why it is marked Scotia I have no idea. Might be worth asking Peter Holmes

Just for the record an ex managing director of Caithness and his partner set up a company called Aidenhill Trading and secured a lot of Urban Development Grants the government was giving out in the early 1980's to encourage people to set up new businesses to bring employment to out of the way places and among the companies they set up was a glassworks in Kilwinning. They got Willie Manson to run it and used his name although he was just an employee of the company.
Willie made his top quality weights there which had his WM cane but he had a small team who produced the Scotia weights.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful but it is a nice weight you have there

Dave

Attached is the catalogue image of the Selkirk 1982 Lovebirds Miniature, ed. size 250.
Not to be confused with the (unlimited) Summer Magic Love Birds, first issued 1978.

I haven't got an image, but I do know where there is a Selkirk "Pierrot" weight which is clearly marked as being "Harlequin", for sale.
(It caused a lot of consternation and confusion between Christine and myself!)
So there is evidence which proves Selkirk didn't always get their markings right.

That holds for other studios (like Caithness) as well !

I don't think it says Scotia, could it be SCOT as an abbreviation for Scotland, followed by 79  the year date (not withstanding that this does not fit the catalogue information).

I'm not sure about the SCOT-bit (not really focused to be sure) ... but at the end it states "number/250 1982" - so this weight was made in 1982. Keep in mind, that years on Selkirk weights denote the year of manufacture, not first issue.
