Opaline pink trailed vases and shell help please.
« on: March 25, 2015, 08:49:36 PM »
Any thoughts on these three, they look well made with a polished base to the shell, they look machine trailed and i think they might be Victorian.

The vase is 3 inches in height and the shell 3 1/2 inches at the widest point.

There is no real wear on them.

Regards Chris.

Those look very familiar, you wouldn't have got them from my favourite little shop a mile or so from Stourbridge ?

Yes Keith, i have not been there for about a year and the place is stuffed with glass, most of which was there a year ago, the place is better than a museum for having a look at all kinds of glass and handling it, these were only 40 quid for the three which i thought a good price, although i would rather of paid 4 quid ;)

Christine they do look very similar to your link thanks for that.

As to the irridescence it's hard to know, i think the pink trailing gives the optical  illusion of irridescence something similar in another trailed bowl i picked up recently which is cranberry with amber trailing.

This one is a bit bigger, 4 3/4 inches in diameter, 2 1/2 inches in height.

Like that piece, probably one of the local makers, the couple that run the shop have been at it for 30 years I've been going there on and off for over 20 ! had some great deals on glass, ;D
