Topic: Help with Identification of Two Vases - Heaney?

I am looking for some help on identifying these two pieces. I received them from a friend that his wife has a large collection of Colin Heaney glassware. These pieces are not signed but I was wondering if they could possibly be unsigned pieces. The snail looking vase has a rough pontil on the curled around part. I am not a glass expert but something just says - good quality about these two pieces.

Thank you so much for any help you can offer. I hope I do not come across as a complete idiot. Glassware just isn't my area.

The piece with the curled tail is what we refer to as Sooner glass as it was made in Oklahoma in the 60s & 70s in large quantities & sold in gas stations & roadside stores. Not certain about the other piece.

These items are most unlike anything I've seen made by Colin Heaney. I have a dozen or so of his pieces, mostly smaller ones. He made studio glass from 1983 to 2010 in a studio at Byron Bay, the most easterly town in mainland Australia (just 30 mins drive from here). Almost his works are engraved with a signature, either his own name or CBHg for Cape Byron Hot Glass, the name of the studio. The few exceptions of genuine Colin Heaney items I've seen without signature are typically components of larger assembled works that somehow came into circulation as individual pieces.

BTW, it really is best if you can shrink the photos and upload them to the board. That way they are preserved with the commentary for future reference.

I'm with Ken on the curly one but I wouldn't be surprised if the vase isn't Sooner too from the colours and the marbling

Thank you all very much. They say you learn something new everyday and today I did with all of your help. I have never heard of Sooner glass but looked it up and I very much see the resemblance. I have a few other pieces I have questions about. Now that I know how the board works I will have smaller photos for the attachments. Thanks again!

I concur with Brewster - those are the most unlikely Colin Heaney pieces I could imagine.  I too have many of his works.  I would actually suggest they are decorator items and probably from China, India or Eastern Europe.

The basket vase with spiked top & the tail is Sooner or to be exact Old Hickory Glass Co. which from the late 50s through the 70s was in Spiro, Oklahoma. They made numerous designs, Swans, open baskets, etc. & are well know here in the U.S. & I've seen several hundred of their pieces over the years. Here is the Facebook page that honors the founder. The company has been renamed but still exists today although the focus has changed.
