Topic: Seguso Vetri d'Arte, Pinzoni pieces

I have the fabulous Marc Heiremans Seguso Vetri d'Arte book since Christmas, and as it goes -- once you know what to look out for

I managed to find two nice Mario Pinzoni pieces recently:

1. lovely sommerso vase, interestingly in a colour scheme which is not mentioned in the book (cranberry cased in Aquamarina, with a thin layer of green in beween). Stands a little over 16 cm tall.
Pictured (as a stoppered decanter) in the book on page 170, selective modellist 1966, pattern nr 13874.

(And I did a little digging through older threads, and made updates where the attributions were uncertain.)

2. Chunky sommerso bowl, water optic or "resina a corteccia" range, 17 cm diameter, designed by Mario Pinzoni around 1966.
The colour scheme is called "notte boreale" (dark grey covered in a thin layer of transparent dark blue, the whole covered in colourless glass), introduced in 1958 -- so by Flavio Poli

Your vase could also be be 14601, page 298.

You are probably right -- though my vase is a perfect shape and size match for the stoppered decanter nr 13874, as a vase it might have a different pattern number.

Interesting that they seem to share the same pattern number...
(Unfortunately these -- among many other pieces in the colour-photograph catalogue section of the book -- are not found in the "selective modellist")

Do you think those prices are realistic?

Back to your piece Michael... if the inside of the neck has not been ground for a stopper to fit then I would assume it started life as a vase.

"Offered by Marc Heiremans" may add quite a bit to the prize I guess
I have never seen any of those two models for sale, so they may be rare...
That said -- as far as I have seen, Pinzoni pieces don't seem to sell for as much as Poli pieces.

The inside of the neck of my vase is not ground, but when I bought it there was an ugly brass thing glued in, so I guess it was a lamp base once (or at least had been converted to one).
Luckily, it was rather easy to remove by soaking the piece in some chemicals.

But as even in this phantastic 200,- Euro book only a part of the patterns is pictured, we may never know...
I have seen a few vases in this shape, though, so the only difference would be the glued-in metal thing; here is a red/amber one: >> Link
