Hi Chris - your suggestion may well be correct, but perhaps some caution needed in making the connection with R/Brierley, based on the shape only - this tall almost sundae-like shape was fairly common in the 1930 - 40 period.
I suspect that Nigel Benson's attribution of his piece to Murray may well be based on documented evidence of the decoration/engraving only, rather than the shape of the piece - despite the dimensions of the two pieces being the same.
Horizontal, or at least semi-horizontal cutting of some kind - like yours - was a not uncommon style of cutting in the period mentioned, and for some while afterwards - I think Stuart used something similar ish on stems of their glasses. I have looked through my limited literature on cut/decorated glass from that period but wasn't aware of seeing this particular decoration from Murray/R.B.
There are some well know vases etc. that use horizontal slash cuts in an abstract way.
Nigel seems not to join us these days - a pity - he is such a fount/font of knowledge. However, fingers crossed, someone may pop in yet, and confirm your thoughts.
