MULTI COLOURED BOWL (MURANO?)
« on: May 16, 2015, 02:26:57 PM »
I am hoping to find out  more information about this black multi-coloured glass bowl.  I think it is possibly Murano and would like to find out Maker/approximate age and any other details for this beautiful piece if possible?

I measures 17cm x 12cm

Looks like Fratelli Toso to me.  Have a look at this link.
You'll need to scroll down quite a way.

I'm not entirely convinced of the reference, especially the "After looking through reference books, it is concluded that this is Fratelli Toso work" sounds a bit thin. Especially since these are usually attributed to AVEM.

Thank you both so much for your replies which seem to confirm the bowl is made in Venice.  I've looked at both links and, due to weight and thickness of bowl I think it's probably an older piece? I've now looked at images on your links and it appears Galliano Ferro, who moved from AVeM also made these bowls so still not completely sure of maker? Does anyone have an approximate idea of value now that location of makers is known?

Many thanks
