Topic: Help identifying anything about this amethyst decanter or flask?

Hello everyone,
I would love to know if anyone can help me identify this. I am not exactly sure what it is or what it was used for. I thought maybe a decanter or liquor bottle or possibly a large inkwell. It is a deep dark amethyst color and hard to see through it. When you hold it up to the light you can see a "thumbnail" type pattern in it and the color becomes lighter and you can see a little red in as well as purple. The outside of the glass almost looks and feels oily. Any info would be helpful. I am also looking for the maker and the possible age?

That looks tricky.... How tall is it and is the oily effect reflective or iridescent?

.... and is the inside of the neck ground for receiving a stopper or is that a trick of the light?

Thanks for the welcome and the response! It is about 6" tall and about 6" at its widest diameter. The inside of the neck does look like it is ground for receiving a stopper, it looks frosted. The oily appearance kind of gives it almost a satin type sheen. When held without light you can see your reflection (although it is dark) but with light you can not see your reflection. With out light it looks like a very dark purple, almost black. It is very hard to see the thumbnail type print or pattern it has without light. The pattern is actually on the inside of the bottle. When held up to the light it turns a bright purple maybe with a splash of red or pink and is very easy to see the pattern. I think the change of color is maybe from the pattern. It is not iridescent like carnival glass.

The first thing I thought of when seeing this were those glass fire extinguishers but maybe that's a crazy idea

Hmm interesting it kind of does look like a fancy one Any other ideas?
