Hi I was hoping that someone would be able to id my vase please? Including the metal mount, it stands 3" tall and 2.5" wide. To me, it resembles Czech glass (I have a number of modest Kralik, Leotz and similar glass pieces).  I know there is a jewelled range that some of their manufacturers did, but I've not seen any jewelled pieces before so have nothing but internet pictures to guide me? Any info would be much appreciated thanks :) Chriss

I would consider France also, are the stones lapis lazuli or perhaps sodalite?

Hi and thanks everyone for all of your help  :) What French makers or areas could that include or would it be impossible to say please?  8) I'm not sure if the blue mounts are stone or glass made to look like stone? I have a graduated coral bead necklace which has a Czech stamp to the clasp and is glass made to look like coral so I thought this may have been like that  ::) The small round dark blue ones are different to the larger ones as the large ones are paler and have a milky like inclusion and white within them, but the small ones are a single darker colour, I've taken closer images of that area for you as I'm not 100% sure sorry? A number of business cards do fit easily into it, but also could it maybe have been used for matches or toothpicks?   ???
Thanks again for your help :)

In older times, folk used to use what were called "calling cards", a more personal and intimate sort of thing than a business card.  :)

My first thought was a candle holder - for the right shaped candle, eg a Havdalah candle used in Judaism. A google of "havdalah candle holder" shows similar items.

I think its a vanity dish, pin dish sort & the jeweled feature would fit in nicely with either Czech or Austria vanity products of that era as this is the type of thing they did on vanity items, perfumes, powder jars, etc.

Hi Thanks for the help and info everyone :) In fairness I hoped that it was Czech or Austrian too when I bought it as it reminded me of some of my collection, but I've never seen the jewelled items in the flesh that are photographed on the net? When it was in it's prime, I think this was a quality item and if i had to look at it's date, jusdging from the rest of my glass as comparisons, I would punt at it being 100 years old? if you look past the tarnish on the metal, (and the stone loss the other side ... :/) I'd never thought of France, but I don't know much about French glass as I collect mainly English and Austrian Art Nouveau glass and know absolutely nothing about Havdalah Candle Holders. I saw the post earlier from ju1i3 (thankyou :D) about the possibility of it being a candle holder, so I have sent an email message to a synagogue in the hope that they would recognise it, if they reply, I will let you know :) Thanks again Chriss

Chriss below are a couple of examples of this type of work from Czech/Austria that I have. Honestly I think 1920's to pre-WWII is a more accurate dating for you piece so may be a 100 years, but a solid 80+.
