Topic: Small Scrambled Paperweight ID help

Hi,
Here is another paperweight I'm trying to figure out. This one is 2' diameter, the base is/was clear but has lots of wear/scratches to it.
Maybe I'm seeing things but the cane in photo #2 looks like a body to me - could this be a signature cane?
I bought a paperweight collection about 1 month ago, and there are quite a few I'm still trying to figure out - hope you won't get tired of my postings.

Hi,I'm sure someone with more of a clue will turn up soon,but recently I posted a St. Louis scramble weight and I'll be interested to find out if this is one as well?with a nice silhouette cane by the looks of it.

A fun little scramble. If I had to venture a guess I'd say St Mande but I'd be interested to see what others have to say. As far as the presence of a silhouette cane I'm not sure...the cane also looks like a distorted 6 pointed star.

Hi,Eric I'm sure knows a shed load more about weights than me,my scramble weight is under "french scramble weight on this page,St Louis seems to have had a few different styles of scramble,mine being in the mini cane camp,and sizes.Nice weight by the way.

Hi.  I would favour St Mandé as the maker.  Is the clear glass slightly grey blue?  Any sign of a slight groove around the dome, low down?

Yes, the glass is greyish/blue Alan but I will have to check for the groove when I get home. I did google St Mande and found some similar to mine. I also found an article about French Paperweights with some photos of St Mande signature canes so I will see if I can find  any of them on my weight. If it is a St Mande that would make it very old so maybe that is why there is some much wear and scratches on the base.

Alan, I checked and there is a groove around the very bottom of the dome.

I think it is definitely St Mandé in that case.  Relatively few were signed - but it would be nice to find one!

Thanks Alan. I found a page with their canes but I couldn't enlarge it enough to see the designs so I'm still looking. It is a nice weight, feels good to hold, I might have to keep this one.
