Topic: Early Strathern ?

Good evening, I presume its an early Strathern  but which period.
Beautiful central cross cane and  5.8cm  = 2.250 inches dia and 4.4cm = 1.750 inches tall with a concave fire polished base.
Trawled Richards smug mugs Strathern site but did not find any matches for any canes but that's not unusual for me.

Hi.  I would vote for Vasart, especially if what I think I can see in the base is evidence of grinding around the pontil mark.

Thanks for that Alan but I cannot see any grinding surface/marks that have been touched by a wheel or other means its all hot finished.
The other observation is that the 7 blue canes resemble butterfly wings.

Hi Malcmat

I tend to agree with Alan - I think its Vasart but a late one.

The mille canes appear to be proud of the ground . They didn't have a glory hole at Vasart so had to reheat the weights in the mouth of the furnace which isn't so hot and hence the canes were rarely pushed right into the ground. When Strathern opened they had a glory hole from day one.

Towards the end of Vasart they started firepolishing the bases - a practice that was the norm when Strathearn opened.
