Topic: unidentified acid etch mark

Hi all, Have been in love with crystal all my life. Found a vase with an acid mark that I am unable to identify. Am hoping for some help. I apologize in advance that it is difficult to read.
I sincerely appreciate any help you can offer.

It looks like the mark of Marcel Franck... above the initials it says 'Les Vaporisateurs' and underneath the initials Paris.

For those of you with the Lexicon book, page 403, nr 9146.

When I google his name, the only result I get are perfume bottles and atomizers....

Sure you got the right picture there? Looks black on the base.

The mark looks black because I used a special stereoscope and special lighting to accent the etched area. Under normal circumstances the mark can be seen thru the glass. The glass is clear and the mark is opaque. The vase is 26.5 cm tall.

Thank you so VERY much for the help! Now I am curious why I have a vase made by a perfume atomizer manufacturer. Is there anyone familiar with Franck?

I've come across the name several times and noticed that they do the atomizers/vaporisateurs but never really paid attention or looked into it, so  I can't tell you much, besides the fact that I was surprized to see a vase with this mark.... but that doesn't get you anywhere...

Actually, having another look in the mentioned book, there are four different acid marks illustrated on page 549...

One of them has 'marque déposée' underneath, another 'made in France' but both are written 'curved' so that wouldn't match with the mark on your vase... the third one has got Baccarat written in a straight line, underneath the oval, ... now your mark is difficult to read, but it does match. It's mentioned that they have their designs for perfume bottles and atomizers  made at several houses, one of them being Baccarat.

I have spent hours paging thru websites trying to find a reference to Marcel Franck and anything other than atomizers. I was able to find a crystal bear statute that was Baccarat with the same acid mark as the piece I have. The only difference that I could discern was that the Baccarat imprint on the bottom of the acid mark was more legible than the one that I have.

It is a lovely piece and I will enjoy it and continue to try to find more about how old it is and a confirmation about it's maker.

mamacass, can you just clarify for me the shape of the vase? is it square section, or five or six sided? it's hard to tell from the image alone. thanks!
