Blue Cut Vase - Czech?
« on: September 28, 2015, 12:17:04 PM »
This vase and its twin sister took my fancy at the local auction.  I was also thinking they looked vaguely familiar, like something I'd seen in the Hi Sklo Lo Sklo book, but no, and I can't seem to find anything searching the Message board or google.  I would have asked here sooner but Apple's new Photos software doesn't seem to allow resizing, unlike its predecessor iPhoto.  Grrrr.  (Took ages to work out I could use Preview).

The vase is almost 7" high x 2.5" diameter (17.5 cm x6.5 cm), weighs 0.7kg, and has these interesting oval and circular cuts with vertical and horizontal lines, with a flat unpolished base

Any suggestions as to age, country of origin, maker?
Many Thanks.
Iain

I think you are on the right track with Czech. I had the vanity set pictured & only the tray was signed, looks to be very close to same cutting & color close also. I thought 30s on mine.

Thanks for that, they do have the same look.  What was the signature on your tray?

Czecho-
Slovakia

Not a large signature maybe an inch as I recall with the split spelling.

Many thanks. I had hopes for a moment that it might be a company name.  Ah well, on with the search.
