Wine glass - Greek key with fluted panels and ovals.
« on: January 08, 2016, 02:14:14 PM »
This nice rather large unmarked wine ??? glass came with a job lot.  I've done quite a bit of research in books/web but can't find anything similar. It seems well made and possibly old.  Beneath the ovals are six fluted panels. These continue unbroken down to the knop and the base has been added (large smooth polished pontil mark).  5.75" high with a 3" diameter opening and holds 200 fl.oz. up to the top horizontal etched line.
Any ideas how old it might be please, and origins ???
TIA

200 fl oz - really!? Thats more than a gallon.

Is the Greek key pattern etched or engraved?

Now that's what I call a drink!  It should have read 200 ml (7 fl.oz) not 200 fl.oz ::)

I'm not too sure how to tell the difference between etched and engraved with certainty. I can't see any tool marks. I just assumed it was etched.
