Any Ideas? Or Maybe a One-Off Hand Made item..
« on: January 20, 2016, 01:15:35 AM »
I picked this up at my local swapmeet this past Saturday, for $3.  There are no markings on it that I can find..  Maybe a one-off hand-blown glass bowl?  It measures approximately 6-3/4" from tail to base of neck, 4-1/2" at its widest point, and about 5" from table to top of head.. It weighs just over one pound..

Definitely not a one off, though hand made. I've seen a lot of these but don't know who made them

As Christine said, these are not easy to identify with certainty. I have a similar one we discussed ages ago on the board http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,677.0.html

Not much help however about a decade ago I ran into a dealer I know & he showed me a divided wooden shipping crate that held a dozen of these packed in sawdust & some type of spiral wood shavings. They were from a gift shop that had been closed for close to twenty years that someone he knew that was demolishing to make way for a Subway fast food joint & found a bunch of old inventory so called him. They were different colors but identical to OPs...you don't forget seeing something like that...box was Japanese with all that packing slip info  that from the Japanese import company. I know I was as suprised as he was that they were from Japan.
