I just picked up this vase and wondered what kind of info I could find out about it.  Any ideas on value?  I did find a little info on the pattern (water wave), but not much else.It's just under 6".  Thanks!

Nice piece.

RD 58375 was registered by Thomas Webb & Sons Limited on 10 October 1886.

Mervyn Gulliver (on page 272 of  "Victorian Decorative Glass - British Designs 1850-1914") shows the design representation , and describes it as " Diaper of irregular lines forming a watery or wavy pattern on the surface of the glass".

As to value, GMB members do not normally offer ideas of valuation of pieces because the value is so subjective.

lovely vase and gorgeous colours.
I'm very curious to see a clear shot of the rim of the vase if you have time to post it please?  It looks like it is cut and polished flat and then gilded?

I'm not here to argue.  I have been a photographer for 2 decades and am quite well versed in copyright.  I'm pretty sure the use of that picture is covered under the fair use act.  Maybe we aren't dealing with something from the US.  I do think that it falls under the Fair Dealing laws of the UK and NZ.

I will get a close up shot of the rim when the piece gets to me.  I think it looks finished though in the pattern right under the gold.  I also had 3 other people that I consider experts look at it and none of them questioned the rim.

Pepe88, irrespective of your familiarity with the US copyright laws, this board has a policy on the use of copyright images which use of the board requires you to adhere to please. Paul has made a specific arrangement with the National Archives in the UK to photograph their records on a strict understanding, as they are not images which are normally available. Those images are made available here under those specific rules and may not be copied by others. By abusing that you put the arrangement at risk. I hope this explains our position clearly.

That is indeed part of the problem, Pepe. It's an international forum including Australia, Europe, North America and Great Britian (there may be other parts of the world included as well.) Of course, everyone has different copyright laws and so, in order to be safe, the moderators have elected to use the broadest terms.

Welcome to the forum. You will see that everyone here is very friendly and many are absolutely brilliant when it comes to glass knowledge.
