Topic: Help identifying a vase?

Hi there, I just picked up what I *think* is a vase. It's two pieces, very heavy (crystal weight), approximately 6-7" tall (sorry, didn't have a ruler at the office).
The exterior is smooth and the interior is what has the design and texture. Looks a bit like Iittala Kekkerit and Timo designed a vase very much in this shape in the late 70s but I don't have any proof. It's unsigned.

Hopefully someone can help me identify it? Thanks much!

Hi and welcome to the board. Your photos are too small to be able to see the detail. We need them to be at least 700 pixels along the longest side for them to be useful. We also prefer it if you add images to the board directly so that the information stays here. We have found from many years' experience that remotely hosted images have a tendency to vanish, thus making the discussion valueless in time. I'm intrigued by this as I cannot see it working as a vase as it would surely leak where the two sections join, but then you have the hole in the top... the only thing I have previously seen as a 2-part pot with a hole in the lid was a hair collector, as part of a lady's dressing table set. But this looks far too modern to be one of those, plus the hole isn't big enough for that... 

Let's see what other people think...

Apologies for the delay in responding. The "vase" is at the office and I've been home sick for a couple days.

I don't believe it to be a hair receiver because of it's size. One of the photos shows it next to a coffee cup and it dwarfs it.

I also don't believe it to be a light fixture or light casing. The lower part has a flat bottom so it appears to be meant to be set on a flat surface. The top acts as a lid so if you try and gently move it side to side it stays put but if you lift it straight up it comes off easily.

Can I provide any other information?

The hole in the middle suggests it is for letting off heat or fumes, so a candle could burn inside and light up the whole globe quite spectacularly. FWIW...

Oooh that makes sense and I'd bet would look lovely! Would also explain why it's split where it is.

Any idea on maker?
