Unknown CZECH Vase - Big and heavy
« on: February 15, 2016, 08:18:39 PM »
Hi there

Just bought this the other day.  Positive it is Czech in origin, but unknown.  It is very heavy and big.  It is about 8.5 inches tall with an opening of about 5 inches wide.  Nice blues in color with some different hues, and the pictures picked up some ?? olive color ?? as I did not see that in it.  So not sure....as this was hard to photograph too

Thanks for looking

Looks very Skrdlovice-like to me but I don't remember seeing this design before. If not perhaps ZBS.

I would think the same as John on first glance, Skrdlovice - at least a good avenue to explore first :)
It has that very similar effect to my bowl of similar colours layered on the glass.

If the vase has 3 vertical 'notches' and 3x3 small 'windows'  in it's decor (sorry for my English and inexpert terms),  Skrdlovice vase by Bohumil Beranek from 1955 could be another guess. Similar vase is for sale on Etsy here:

Thanks so much TORYSA for that.  I believe you are correct.  Sorry for the delay getting back to you but had a busy weekend.

Yes -- Looks the same.  One Question -- Mine does seem to flare more out at the top than the one in the link....Does that make a difference?

Thank YOU again for this info !!!!!   :-*

Rose, I have to admit I was too quick at my guessing. Beginner's fault. Sorry for that  :( .  I believe that the vase on Etsy from the link above IS real Skrdlovice model 5574. It has deep plastic decor and the 'notches' go down to the base making the shape of base irregular. Base of your vase is nice regular circle and , as you've mentioned, top of the vase is more opened. Still would vote for Skrdlovice. Maybe model developed later from 5574 ?
