Topic: Tango Glass ?

Hi, I was wondering whether these vases could be classed as Tango Glass.
They're  coloured orange-red and have a mottled satin finish.
The applied threading is a very dark blue ( almost black ).
They look to me as if they've been blown without the aid of a mould ( slight differences in ht and rim width ).
They both have some base wear-but it's not that obvious.
Their bases are slightly concave-no sign of any pontil marks.
 
Ht- about 13cms
Wt- about 380gms individually.

Pretty sure they are Spanish, made by Lafiore.

I would not class them as Tango, to me they would have to be Czech and circa 1930 for that but interested to know if others have the same criteria.

Hi John,
You might well be right !
However, these vases are much more delicate than the two Lafiore pieces I've got.
Their satin finish ( interior and exterior )is a lot finer than the finish ( scavo ? ) of my Lafiore pieces.
Of course for all I know Lafiore might have made a range similar to these at some time.

I think they are modern. I've seen similar things in "antique" centres

Hi Christine, yes, I'm fast coming to the same conclusion.
The base wear, which has acquired a shiny appearance ( where the satin finish has been rubbed smooth ) is probably more consistent with the 50s/60s than the 30s.
However they look as if they've been well made - the mottle could also be described as a refined spatter.
Whatever, they're not going back to the charity shop !

I think they are relatively new, as in the last few years; I was being sarcastic when I said antique shops. Wear doesn't necessarily take long to achieve
