Green ribbed vase cased
« on: May 22, 2016, 04:53:19 PM »
Hi, any ideas re the maker of this ribbed cased vase which has a slight iridescent finish with a  flat, ground base with ware / usage marks.
Fire polished rim and stands 15cm tall with a diameter of 12cm and weighs 1.288kg.
Any help appreciated

Malcolm

I don't know the maker, but I have a blue one. Many years ago I showed an image to somebody (was it Ivo?) who suggested Polish as a possibility for investigation.

Mine is much the same size and weight ... height 15 cm, max width 12.7 cm, weight 1.34 Kg

Twelve ribs with a slight twist; translucent blue (no bubbles); iridized all over but appears dark blue or silver in various parts under various lighting. The iridescence shows as a sort of "gold / yellow" mainly visible on the neck / shoulders, but again the effect differs according to the lighting.

Thanks so much KevinH for the information and will keep on looking into the Polish glass connection.
