Smoke Stemmed Liqueur Glasses, but by whom? Scandinavian?
« on: June 26, 2016, 08:02:10 PM »

Hi all,

These glasses are incredibly lightweight. I know glass are notoriously difficult to pin down, but I am hoping that someone can help with these.
The closest I can find in Dartington Tor, but are they?
The smoke colour is identical to the Holmegaard Canada glasses that I have, but I know that doesn't count for much.
I would truly appreciate any help.
160mm (6.25") in height.
TIA
Della

I find these semi-regularly at fairs and on eBay UK - but not so much, if ever, on European sites. Never been able to pin them down, but I don't think they're Holmegaard.

I did wonder if they might be British.

Thanks, Nic.  ;)  I didn't think they were Holmegaard, they are not substantial enough, but always nice to have a definitive no.

Oh, Holmegaard did insubstantial too. There are dozens and dozens of inexpensive designs they did over the decades for department stores, restaurants, bars... sometimes with really shocking quality.

Might be worth looking at Boussu, Della. I have some wide-bowl ones in a similar smokey colour that Ivo suggested might be them here: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,45574.0.html
