VSL or Murano or....
« on: June 27, 2016, 09:07:58 PM »
Usually you can spot the differences between 'free-form' vases made by VSL and those coming for Murano, but my checklists do not yield anything conclusive when applied to this 30 cm high vase.
Of course, somebody here may know the design?
Somebody may have one JUST like it that has a label or signature?
Somebody may recognize characteristics that are not on my checklist.

I haven't come across this model but that doesn't mean anything of course.
It would fit in the 60's series 'Les Tordus', some of them have polished pontils and some of them don't, and the absence of a signature's perfectly normal for a pre 70's piece, but I'm not 100% sure about this one.

Perhaps I have mentioned it somewhere else before, but this type of glass eventually ended up being made by apprentices, as the professional glass blowers quickly got bored with this production. At the time these series were extremely popular and VSL tried to milk it, by solely focussing on this production and not much else which lead to the beginning of the end.... having said that, grand reopening of VSL on the 1st of July - episode 4 or something like that ... I've lost count ::)
