Help with ID of Iridescent Vase? ID = Kralik
« on: August 06, 2016, 09:11:31 PM »
Hi again!

I've been having difficulty finding the maker of this silver rimmed vase - it looks like Kralik or Rindskopf but I can't find the pattern on their website although I have seen similar vases in this shape. I thought it could be veined pattern but was wrong on that count. It's 8.25 inches high , 3.25 inches diameter at its widest point and has 1.5 inches diameter rim.

Made by Kralik it seems, this pattern is known as Honeycomb Panel, another example same shape as your vase is shown with other shapes here (left hand side, sixth row down):

Easily done, Honeycomb Panel often gets missed, possibly because the item photo in that decor index is a little atypical...

Is yours hallmarked? If so the date can be a useful snippet of information.

Yes it's hallmarked but the town mark is rubbed / damaged bad so I can't read / date it properly , I'll upload a decent photo to show the hallmark

The date letter is a small "i" and the shape of town mark looks like it would more likely be Birmingham rather than the London leopard head so more than likely it was assayed in 1908/9. The maker mark looks like P & S but there are a few Birmingham silver makers with those letters so unsure exactly of maker.
