Topic: Murano or just ...'no', glass dolphin, ID = Zelezny Brod

Hi gang, me again, asking for opinions on another of my flee market finds. This time it's a rather elegant but unmarked dolphin (or maybe it's a salmon? As the tail is oriented in the vertical plane). It's quite large at approximately 14" in length and 5" heigh (36cm x 13cm).

The moment I saw it I thought 'Murano' but a quick google image search fails to come up with anything quite the same though I guess that's par for the course with hand moulded glass.

I'm afraid the attached photo was a little hurried and not in the best light but will hopefully be sufficient for someone to identify the maker.

Doesn't look Murano to me, they were all about colours and this doesn't seem to be loud enough for them.
Must be eastern European or around that area, looks really nice though!
I am also in agreement with you in thinking this is a dolphin

Thanks Ben, on reflection I agree, not really gaudy enough for Murano (hope that term doesn't offend anyone). Also agree it being a dolphin, guess it's the nose which gives it away though I maintain the tails all wrong for a cetacia lol.

eastern European gives me a direction to research.

Knew I had seen it before!

  That does rather explain the quality, and why it might have been mistaken for good Murano.
Salmon are really a bit ugly.

I am still a complete novice at this but as ever, I do know what I like and I fell in love with the beautiful lines of this 'dolphin' the moment I set eyes on it. I've come across the ubiquitous Murano fish before and never really liked them but then I do have rather reserved tastes.

I shall now go off and do some research on  Miloslav Janku and Zelezny Brod glass.
