ID Help: Is this wineglass by Moser?? Date?
« on: August 22, 2016, 10:53:48 AM »
It's been suggested that this wineglass has a very high price tag because it's a 'rare' piece of Moser.
Can anybody help to corroborate the attribution?

It should have an etch mark if it is. Otherwise it might as well be Poschinger or Heckert.

Nothing like it in the book. Sounds like wishful attribution to me. Is it lead crystal?

If you search for Jugendstil stengelglas you might be able to find similar styles.  I couldn't find any the same but it reminds me of those versions that are enamelled with flower petals.  Have you looked on Glaswolf?

This is the kind of thing it reminds me of
https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/walldorf/catalogue-id-auktio10007/lot-002f9b39-4f1e-4af4-a780-a523011fb038

Perhaps Kolo Moser has been suggested because of the colours used.  I did search Kolo Moser before but didn't see anything the same.
Think you could write to Moser and ask about the Moser suggestion though.  They are good at replying (but would have thought it might have been marked if it was)

I agree. But this is unusual colour for stemware and no decoration? I think the colours led to the Kolo suggestion rather than the form.

I wonder also about the rim. This shape is fairly impractical so most versions I know are for decorative purposes, Whoever the manufacturer is you would think that (if it were early) there would be enamel decoration (?) like your saleroom example..
In Belgian glass we often see enamel or cold-paint which has been damaged in use and then the remaining enamel has been stripped to leave an object clean (but not correct).

"It is a puzzlement"!
