Thanks for that, Rocco. I am not too worried about the basket having a polished base.  :)

M, I have scoured the Steuben site and my vase isn't one of the 4345 patterns.
I have attached the photo you asked for, plus a clearer one of the base, which measures 110mm in diameter, of which the pontil scar measures between 45mm and 50mm as it isn't perfectly round, and one of it held up to the light.

Hope these help.
I am still thinking Murano  ???
If I know, I'll comment. If I think I know, I'll have a go. If I have no idea, I'll just keep quiet and learn from others, so the next time I'll know.

:-[ sorry Della  - 4500 :o, but it's an amazing site.  I was agog at the beautiful glass and the sheer diversity and amount on that site.

Looking at the new pics, it looks more opalescent cased than alabaster cased (the Stevens and Williams 'alabaster').  So apologies for the red herring there.

I hope you find out who made it as it is beautifully made.

A fantastic site, M, thank you  ;D Took me until 3am, but I had fun looking.
It is definitely opalescent glass. I guess that is what creates the illusion of it being quite blue on the outside near the top.
I will carry on searching  ;D
