Hi Duncan  -  welcome to the GMB.

In view of the many Continental members who have been regulars on this forum for a long time, items relating to this period in history are generally not a subject that we discuss - for reasons I hope you will appreciate.
Sorry if this sounds rather narrow minded, but in consideration for our overseas members I think it unlikely that your request will get a response, bearing in mind the vast emotional feelings that it would generate. :)

If I'm wrong then I'll apologise to you, but have a feeling that folk here will not wish to discuss your glass.

Hi there.

Thanks for your reply. I understand that the glass contains a symbol which connotes a horrific period in history. However, I believe that we are all mature and level-headed enough to accept such a period in history, and to never forget it or fail to talk about it. Many of my family fought and died in the war against Nazism. I am simply here to gain a deeper understanding of the glass. Cheers!

All the best,

Duncan.

Hello Duncan, welcome to the board.

I have to explain that we have a policy on the board of not displaying or discussing articles which carry third reich symbols, as so many of our members' families and a large number of glassmakers and their families were victims of that regime, and such topics cause them distress.  You are more than welcome on the board but we would ask that you not post about glass with such symbology. Would you also please edit your profile to remove the reference to the third reich. The board has had very unpleasant visits from those who appear to have a more sinister interest in this period of our recent history, hence this policy being applied. I trust that you will understand and accept our decision.

Hi there, Anne.

I understand and respect this policy. However, would you be able to point me in the right direction in order to gain some understanding of this piece? Are there any specialists I could get in touch with, or message private members? I shall remove this post in due time. Thanks.

All the best,

Duncan.

Hi Duncan I honestly have no idea where would be the best place, I'm sorry. It's not an area I have any information about so I can't point you towards anywhere but a search engine such as Google, cautiously or, just as an afterthought, perhaps somewhere like the Imperial War Museum may be able to point you towards a specialist in the field?  Good luck.
