Reijmyre Uranglass Bird Query ?
« on: November 09, 2016, 11:08:24 AM »
Hi all!

I have this bird by Reijmyre which has a sticker on it claiming it to be Uranglas - uranium, but it just looks plain clear glass to me, no hint of green like normal vaseline glass. Did this factory just throw random stickers on their output or am I wrong ? I haven't got a UV light to test it . Any input would be grateful! Best , Adam

Hi Adam,  I bought a little UV pocket torch from eBay for just a couple of quid.... really useful for taking round car boots and Charity shops.... and it meant I could check the glass I already had.... well worth the investment.
Do let us know the out come of your owls uraniumness or lack of. :)

I think it's a wrongly applied sticker. This owl definitely has no uran.  ;D

Thanks for the replies guys I was thinking the same as it looks too clear to have any uranium in it - the few owls that are similar I have seen online didn't have the Uranglas part on the lower part of sticker so thought it could have been a possibility but it was more like wishful thinking tbqh :)

I'll just need to bite the bullet and get a torch from eBay Rosie - I have been trying not to buy online as I'd like see in person how well they work but every place locally has stopped selling UV torches including Maplin :)

I just bought a cheap little pocket sized one to carry round with me.

This was the one.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/9-LED-UV-Torch-Ultra-Violet-Blacklight-AAA-Flashlight-Torch-Light-/381061168019?

And I have UV lightbulbs that I can put In table lamps or light sockets when I need to use them at home.

I do recommend you 'Bite the Bullet' :)
