Unusual sugar shaker with swirls and bubbles - help please?
« on: November 13, 2016, 10:40:44 PM »
I picked this up at an antique stall fairly recently and it seemed to have such an unusual, unique décor that I was sure I'd find something similar to find out its identity, but no such luck and now I'm flummoxed!

Even describing it is quite tricky so I hope the photos do it some justice. It's cased glass and the patterning seems to be done within the glass. It has a white interior with amber swirls and bubbles. The surface of the glass is particularly shiny with an almost iridescent sheen which gives the bubbles a golden look. The top comes off and 'silver plated' is written on the silver inner rim. Does the fact this is in English mean the glass is more likely to be English? I have to say it doesn't look very English to me. The base is slightly concave but I can't see a pontil mark so am assuming it's moulded. It is 19 cm or 7 and a half inches with the top, 14 cm without and is of a good weight.

Phew! That all seems quite verbose, but it's a tough one to describe. It has such an unusual look that I'm really hoping someone will have seen something similar ..even if it isn't a sugar shaker. Cheers for any help.

Does this décor/pattern ring any bells with anyone?

I hope you don't mind me giving this one last bump in the hope of a reply. I've got no further since posting the original post in finding any leads on this.
