Victorian amethyst glass spittoon maybe?.
« on: March 17, 2017, 07:18:59 PM »
I think this might be an early Victorian glass spittoon but i can only find similar ones in brass and none on here.

The rim has been folded over probably for strength, the base is flat with a large rough pontil which is pushed up and domed internally.

6 1/2 inches across the rim, 7 inches in height and 3 1/2 inches across the base.

Any thought's welcome regards Chris.

Hi id agree with it being a spittoon, I had a cranberry glass one years ago that had a wide rim but with a more bulbous shaped base, I think your amethyst spittoon is a  Lovely item with lots of wear wouldn't argue with the date range either.
