'Uranium' Glass Bottle
« on: March 22, 2017, 11:03:15 AM »
Hi all. I got these two with a collection of Mdina. The green one surprised me when a UV light caught it by reacting. They are 32cm in Height. I have no idea who made these!

I bet they are decanters missing stoppers. Are they ground inside the necks? Perhaps Richardson  ???

I looked into that but they are smooth inside. I don't think that means they are not missing stoppers but I will try the Richardson lead. A bit unusual but nice pieces. Thanks Lustrousstone

Here is a pic of a cylinder decanter  Victorian Gothic cathedralesque 1845-50 similar shape 32cm in height with stopper so a but smaller.

I like my decanters and that one looks really nice. 'Cathedralesque' describes the cut nicely. I am still searching with no luck. I will hopefully stumble across (usually when looking for something completely different) an answer eventually.

Do they both have polished pontil marks? it's very difficult to tell from your photographs.

These are the Richardson examples
http://www.revolutionaryplayers.org.uk/richardson-transfer-printed-decanters-and-vases/

Your green one looks right for shape and curve and finish at the neck/top rim, the blue one not so much but  I don't know what kind of 'leeway' there would be on type of shape of finish.  Otherwise it look to be fine.
It might help if you photograph each piece individually taken side on profile so that the shape can be seen properly?

Andrew Lineham shows a pair of the yellow here

Quite a lot of leeway I would guess: those two yellow ones have completely different tops

Yes I think you are right - and it's great to see the blue version, I've never seen their blue to match the green and yellow.
Thanks for sharing Pete

Sorry for late reply... busy busy trying to balance decorating and buying/Selling and apparently my family would like some attention 😀 They do have polished Pontils. I did not think Richardson at all so am pleased with that. I will post more photos soon. Thanks all for comments.
