Topic: Mid Century Smoke Console bowl

I'm trying to identify this MCM piece. Viking has a similar, if less defined, 4 point bowls, but none with a pedestal. It's about 7 inches tall, 10 inch diameter at the top, the base is 4" across. The smoke color appears to have a hint of green in it. It is very weighted at the base, and the bottom was polished flat, as you can hopefully see in the picture. It looks as though the center of the based was removed after casting as there is a circular pattern but no mold lines on the inside. There are faint mold lines on the outside of the pedestal. I have searched Google images relentlessly and have found nothing to match. The only other oddity of this is the resonance of the bowl. It makes the most enchanting sounds when tapped, even if only with my fingernails.

Sorry about the yellowish tone on two of the photos. I suspect it's coming from the green walls. The picture of the base is the most accurate depiction of the color.

I wouldn't claim to know much about American glass, but I think Erickson Glass rather favoured these thick 'paperweight' type bases for bowls and vases, and seem to have done quite a bit in smoked-grey.

An avenue to explore, perhaps.
