I just re smash the broken glass saves me trying to reglue it and getting more wound up.

Over the years I've found two things to be universally true of buying glass online:

1) Too many people believe that sellotape has inherent protective qualities. They might be (will be) stingy with essential things like bubblewrap and loosefill, but they do love to go to town on the tape!

2) The bigger and more exciting the bargain, the more likely it is to arrive knackered. Even if you send them messages describing exactly how best to pack it and telling them that you'd gladly pay more to cover additional packing costs (always ignored).

A few years back I bought a stupidly rare and particularly large Fulvio Bianconi charger that slipped under everyone's radar - just £20. It was shoved diagonally in the tiniest box possible and arrived in a thousand pieces. Lots of sellotape, though.

Just had another piece of Riihimaki glass delivered from Finland.
It literally arrived just like this...  not even the paper was wrapped around it and it was flung in there with no thought.
You could hear it moving inside before I opened it but there was no sound to indicate it was broken.
I thought i got away with it until I took the lid off and saw all the chips around the rim, presumably caused by the loose lid.
Came with 2 matching cordial glasses which surprisingly made it intact.
Gutted is an understatement, you get your money back but I think I'd rather just have my decanter
