Hi Wolfie,
a difficult one, it seems. I have never seen anything like it. A container/display item probably- but for what? Hopefully someone out there knows... I had pineapple as an idea, knocked back due to size issues....  hopefully this will be solved as it is a highly mysterious item until then... good luck!

Not really sure as to it's exact purpose, Wolfie, apart from the fact that it seems to be some kind of stand.

Bears many similarities (foot, base, finial arms, upper ring) to this superb quality hand-blown lead crystal dish bearing the registry date lozenge for 19 October 1867 - Parcel 4, showing that it was from design numbers 212674 to 212677 registered by Thomas Webb & Sons Limited.

RD 212674 was  design for a handle, pouring spout and feet (in this case apparently  adapted for the supporting arms with splayed and reeded ends).

RD 212675 was for an applied shell-shaped prunt (matching the designs in 212674).
RD 212676 was for a variation in which the handle in RD 212674 was attached at its upper end.
RD 212677 was for an applied circular radially reeded prunt.

Fred.

Interesting Fred. The construction concept looks similar and the lion's head prunt was used at a similar time by Webb on some of the Webb bronze pieces.... this sounds all together quite plausible Fred... you have found a possible lead!

excellent fred, it has to be the same sort of thing, a bowl stand of some description! Lovely if it is from that period, I must confess to Powell crossing my mind when I saw it because of the 1-6-11 and lion prunts.
